A 58-year-old man, Kenneth Wayne Jones, was shot and killed by Denton County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) deputies on June 3, 2025, during the service of an arrest warrant. The incident occurred at approximately 2:45 p.m. in the 10000 block of Field Lark Lane in unincorporated Denton County.
According to the Denton County Sheriff's Office, deputies were serving the warrant when they made contact with Jones. Authorities stated that Jones failed to comply with verbal commands and subsequently pointed a handgun at the deputies. In response, deputies discharged their firearms, striking Jones.
Deputies immediately rendered life-saving measures until EMS personnel arrived on scene. However, Kenneth Wayne Jones was pronounced deceased at the location. No deputies were injured during the incident.
The Texas Rangers have taken over the investigation into the shooting. As this is an ongoing investigation, all inquiries regarding the case are being directed to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
