DALLAS, TX – On September 24, 2025, the Dallas Police Department’s Apartment Community Team (A.C.T.) brought the Oak Cliff community together for a day of fun, engagement, and outreach. The event, held in a local neighborhood park, attracted more than 250 residents and featured a variety of activities, vendors, and giveaways aimed at fostering connections between police officers and the community.
Families and attendees enjoyed complimentary food from Chick-fil-A and Bear Creek Family Dental, including sandwiches and pizza. The Dallas Police Wellness Unit and the National Latino Law Enforcement Organization (N.L.L.E.O.) ensured everyone stayed hydrated with cold bottles of water, making the day enjoyable for all ages.
“Events like this bring our communities together,” said Assistant Chief Catrina M. Shead. “Now more than ever, it’s important that the Dallas Police Department helps create spaces where we can share joy and unity.”
Adding to the excitement, generous donations from local organizations and businesses provided gifts for participants. J.C. Phelps Recreation Center and Sam’s Club contributed gift cards and scooters, while the Dallas Zoo offered six-packs of tickets for families to enjoy future visits. The City of Dallas’ Sanitation Department wowed attendees by bringing heavy-duty trucks for children and adults to explore up close, creating a memorable experience for the entire community.
In addition to the featured activities, multiple local organizations and agencies collaborated to make the event possible. Partners included Cowboy Insurance, Dallas College, Mil Mujeres Legal Services, Well Point, PNC Bank, the Dallas Police Department’s Communications and Office of Community Affairs units, Genesis Women’s Shelter, Parkland Health, the City of Dallas Office of Cultural Affairs, Cinema Dental, Lake Highlands Recreation Center, Opportunity Resource Services (ORS), 311 City of Dallas, The Family Place, the DPD Domestic Violence Unit, and Sam’s Club.
The A.C.T. Team emphasized that events like these not only provide a fun experience for families but also help strengthen trust and communication between the community and law enforcement. Residents had the opportunity to meet officers, ask questions, and learn about local resources, fostering a greater sense of community safety and cooperation.
The event was part of the Dallas Police Department’s broader initiative to engage with residents, create positive interactions, and encourage dialogue between officers and community members. Organizers say these gatherings help reinforce the department’s commitment to supporting neighborhoods, building relationships, and promoting a safe and welcoming environment for all residents.
Attendees expressed appreciation for the efforts, highlighting the variety of activities, food, and educational opportunities available throughout the day. Many families left the event with smiles, gifts, and a renewed sense of connection to both their neighbors and local law enforcement.
