IRVING, TX – On the evening of Monday, October 20, 2025, Irving Police officers took 28-year-old William Machado into custody in connection with a February 2022 murder. Machado was booked into the Irving Jail at 8:52 p.m.
The original incident occurred on February 27, 2022, in the 900 block of East Grauwyler Road (near the N. Nursery Rd. intersection). At approximately 4:13 a.m., officers responded to reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they discovered 27-year-old Ariel Waldemar Mendez-Carias with at least one gunshot wound. Despite life-saving efforts, Mendez-Carias succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Over the past two years, Irving detectives actively investigated the case and pursued Machado as a suspect. He is also an illegal immigrant, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has placed a hold request on him. Machado faces charges of first-degree murder.
