IRVING, Texas – In the early morning hours of October 9, Irving Police officers arrested two suspects following a 911 call reporting suspicious activity behind a home in South Irving.
At approximately 1:09 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 100 block of 11th Street after a resident reported hearing noises in his backyard. When he went to look, he saw someone jump the fence into a neighboring vacant property on the backside of the property.
As officers surrounded the vacant home, two individuals emerged from the back door. When officers identified themselves, one suspect, 23-year-old Kimberly Gonzalez-Monsivais, attempted to run before stopping and being taken into custody. During the arrest, officers recovered her purse, which contained 37 pills identified as Oxycodone and Xanax. Gonzalez-Monsivais was charged with Criminal Trespass of a Habitation, Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 1/1-B (1–4 grams), Possession of a Controlled Substance PG 3 (under 28 grams), and Evading Arrest or Detention.
The second suspect, 28-year-old Jose Javier Zelaya, also tried to flee but was caught after a brief struggle. Zelaya was charged with Criminal Trespass of a Habitation, Evading Arrest or Detention, and Resisting Arrest. Officers later discovered he had 14 outstanding traffic-related warrants from Grand Prairie, Flower Mound, and Grapevine.
Thanks to the homeowner’s quick 911 call and coordinated police response, both suspects were safely apprehended. No officers were injured during the incident.
