FORT WORTH, TX – A joint operation between the Fort Worth Police Department and the Arlington Police Department led to the arrest of two suspects involved in a bank “jugging” scheme on October 14, 2025.
Officers from Fort Worth’s Operations & Surveillance Team (OST) observed Courtland Smith-Montgomery and Geremy Brown in a white sedan at a Wells Fargo Bank on E. Berry Street in Fort Worth. Surveillance revealed the vehicle had a mismatched license plate, and the occupants were not conducting legitimate business. The suspects continued similar behavior at a second Wells Fargo location on Rosedale Street before driving to Arlington, where they followed a bank customer to a Navy Federal Credit Union and then to a nearby Walmart.
Authorities observed Smith-Montgomery break the rear passenger-side window of the victim’s vehicle and steal an envelope containing recently withdrawn cash. Both suspects were quickly apprehended by Fort Worth Criminal Tracking Unit officers, and the stolen funds were recovered and returned. Arlington Police assisted by processing the scene and conducting interviews.
During the operation, a Fort Worth officer discovered an abandoned puppy in a crate at a local gas station. The officer cared for the puppy throughout the surveillance operation and ultimately adopted the animal following the arrests.
Police praised the operation as a demonstration of teamwork, dedication, and community care by law enforcement in Fort Worth and Arlington.
