ARLINGTON, TX – The Arlington Police Department has announced the arrest of 25-year-old Arthur Morris Jr. in connection with the 2021 murder of Kier Solomon, a transgender woman who was found shot inside a vehicle at a North Arlington apartment complex.
On September 30, 2021, at around 9:32 p.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of Stonetrail Road after a resident reported seeing someone slumped over in a running car. Responding officers found Solomon inside the vehicle with a gunshot wound. She was transported to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Detectives discovered that Solomon had been communicating with someone through a mobile app about meeting at the location. The number used to contact her was later determined to be a temporary number generated by the app.
Two weeks earlier, another victim had been lured to the same area using the same app, robbed at gunpoint, and fired upon as they tried to flee. Investigators linked that earlier crime to Morris.
After years of investigation, a breakthrough came in September 2025 when detectives executed multiple search warrants that tied an email address and cell phone number to Morris. Cell phone records placed him at the scene before, during, and after Solomon’s murder.
Morris has been serving a a seven-year sentence in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for an unrelated aggravated robbery since October, 2024. He was convicted in Dallas County and is incarcerated at the Roach Prison in Childress, TX. Morris now faces new charges of murder and aggravated robbery. He will be transferred from Childress, TX, to Tarrant County for arraignment.
“This investigation truly highlights the persistence and dedication of our detectives,” said Arlington Police Chief Al Jones. “What never changes is our commitment to delivering justice for victims of crime and exhausting every possible lead to achieve that goal.”
