Irving ISD January 2018 Calendar

District Spelling Bees – Thursday, January 4 

District-level spelling bees will take place at the Administration Building Board Room on Thursday, January 4. Irving ISD will host three cluster spelling bees that will be open to the public and broadcast live on ISTV via cable (Verizon Fios channel 33 and Time Warner Cable channel 15.5) and online. The schedule for each cluster is as follows:
8:30 a.m. – Nimitz cluster
10:30 a.m. – MacArthur cluster
1 p.m. – Irving cluster
Winners of the district’s spelling bees will advance to the Dallas County competition.
Biomedical Sciences Academy Science Fair – Thursday, January 4
The Biomedical Sciences Academy at Irving High School will host its annual Science Fair Thursday, January 4, at 6 p.m. at the school.

Middle & High School All-City Band Concert – January 7
Join the Irving ISD Fine Arts Department for the 2017-2018 All-City Band Concert featuring student musicians from across the district. The concert is open to the public and will be held at Irving High School at 4 p.m.
8th Grade Parent Nights at Singley Academy – Tuesday, January 9, and Thursday, January 18
Singley Academy will hold an open house for all 8th graders who are interested in attending Singley in the fall of 2018 and their parents. Parent Information Nights will be held Tuesday, January 9, and Thursday, January 18, at the school, located at 4601 N. MacArthur. Each night will consist of an informational session at 6 p.m. and a Specialty Showcase occurring across the campus from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. During this time, parents can tour the campus and visit each specialty area of interest. 

PreK Sip & See – January 18
Come sip and see why Irving ISD is the right choice for PreK. Parents of little scholars who will be four-years-old by September 1 are invited to learn about our quality full-day, tuition-based PreK program on Thursday, January 18. Irving ISD’s three early childhood schools will host a morning session from 8:30 to 10 a.m. and an afternoon session from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Each session will include a staff meet and greet, presentation and campus tour. Childcare and refreshments will also be provided. Hurry! Space is limited. RSVP by Monday, January 8 at www.irvingisd.net/sipandsee.
Nimitz Fine Arts Presents "Disney’s The Lion King Jr.” – January 18-20
The Nimitz High School Fine Arts department presents "Disney’s The Lion King Jr.” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 18 through Saturday, January 20, in the Nimitz High School Auditorium. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students and seniors.

MacArthur High School Fine Arts Presents “Big Fish” – January 25-27
The MacArthur Fine Arts department presents “Big Fish” at 7 p.m. on Thursday, January 25 through Saturday, January 27, in the MacArthur High School Auditorium. Tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students and seniors.
