Irving's Solid Waste Department recently hosted a group of international graduate-level students eager to learn best practices they hope to apply in their home countries. The visit is part of the International Solid Waste Association’s Winter School. In addition to the visit to Irving's landfill, the students also examined collection equipment and learned about other topics related to waste management.
The Solid Waste Department Director Brenda Haney made a presentation at the Jan. 31 City Council Meeting to showcase this visit. This Winter School partnership brings students to North Texas and includes the University of Texas at Arlington and various other North Texas municipalities.
