Irving Aviation Wins Best in Show at ICE Awards

Irving, Texas. February 11, 2019

Thursday was a scene of celebration at Irving High School for the 19th Annual Irving Celebration of Excellence (ICE). School programs and projects were honored during the night, with the coveted ICE Award going to the School of Aviation Science at Irving High School for its Real World Design Challenge (RWDC) success. Through the RWDC, high school students work on real-world engineering challenges in a team environment. Students utilize professional engineering software to develop solutions and then generate presentations to convincingly demonstrate the value of their solutions. In the team’s first year of competing, students from the school of aviation science at Irving High School were named the best team in the state and advanced to national competition in Washington D.C. There it was named Best First-Year Team.

Other highlights of the evening included perfect attendance awards given to six deserving and dedicated students who have never missed a day during their educational journey in Irving ISD. Photos from the event can be found on the district’s Photo Gallery.
