Nimitz JROTC Pushes Way Up to 4th at State


Irving, Texas. February 27, 2019

For the seventh consecutive year, the Nimitz Navy JROTC competed at state this weekend, this time winning three individual state championships, finishing fourth overall and qualifying for the strictly Navy national competition in Pensacola, Fla., in April. Earlier this year, the cadets qualified for the all-services national meet in Daytona, Fla., in May after winning two regional drill meets. Individual state champions are:

  • Amerous Torres, Pushups – female with 50
  • Dibanhi Aguirre, Pushups – male with 88
  • Angeline Fernandez, Curl ups – female with 197
  • Curl ups – female: Maryan Valles, 4th
  • Male Color Guard: 2nd
  • Armed Regulation: 4th
  • Armed Exhibition: 6th
  • Unarmed Regulation: 4th
  • Armed Commander: Kiron Searl, 4th
  • Drill Category Overall: 4th
  • PT Overall: 4th
  • Academics: 4th
