Man Fatally Shot Outside Business on W. Central Texas Expressway in Killeen

A 28-year-old man has died after being shot outside a business on the 900 block of W. Central Texas Expressway in Killeen, Texas.

The Killeen Police Department responded to a 911 call about a shooting victim on Saturday, February 17, 2024, around 8:05 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds. They administered first aid until paramedics arrived and transported the victim to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center.

The victim succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at 8:39 p.m. by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson. An autopsy is scheduled to be conducted at the Southwest Institute of Forensic Science in Dallas.

The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

One individual has been taken into custody in connection with the incident.

Authorities have stated that this is an isolated event and there is no ongoing threat to the community.

UPDATE:  Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division Robbery-Homicide Unit have identified the victim as 28-year-old Larry Kidd Jr.
