Three Suspects Arrested After Two Related Shootings Across Arlington

Three suspects were arrested in connection to two shootings across Arlington on Sunday, December 15, 2024, with one victim left in critical condition and another injured.

Deer Creek Drive Incident
At approximately 1:35 a.m., officers responded to a shooting at an apartment complex in the 2900 block of Deer Creek Drive. Upon arrival, they found a 32-year-old woman who had been shot in the arm. She was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the woman's boyfriend, a group of young men knocked on their door looking for someone who did not live there. An argument ensued, and when the boyfriend retrieved a bat to ask the suspects to leave, one of the suspects pulled out a gun and began shooting. The woman was struck by gunfire, and their dog was grazed by a bullet but is expected to recover. The suspects fled the scene in a Honda Civic.

Little Road Incident
Around 3:00 a.m., officers responded to a shooting at a parking lot in the 4900 block of Little Road. They found a 34-year-old man with a gunshot wound inside a parked vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital and is listed in critical condition.

A woman with the man told officers that as they were getting into their car, a vehicle—believed to be the same Honda Civic—blocked them in. Four individuals exited the car, one of whom pointed a gun at them and demanded they exit the vehicle. Shots were fired, and the man inside the car was struck, though the woman was unharmed.

The suspects fled the scene, and a BOLO was issued for the Honda Civic, which was later identified as stolen from Dallas. Just after 5:00 a.m., officers spotted the vehicle on Parkway Lane and initiated a pursuit. The driver of the Honda fled, but officers arrested two individuals in a Lincoln Town Car following the Honda.

Arrests Made
The individuals in the Lincoln were identified as 20-year-old Humberto Barajas and a juvenile male. Barajas was booked on two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and one count of Aggravated Robbery. He also had an outstanding warrant for an unrelated aggravated assault charge out of Dallas County. The juvenile was charged with similar offenses and was transported to the Tarrant County Juvenile Detention Center.

Officers later located the crashed Honda Civic in the 2100 block of Browning Drive and arrested 17-year-old Angel Barajas, who was booked on two counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, one count of Aggravated Robbery, and one count of Evading.

A fourth suspect remains outstanding, and the investigation is ongoing.
