The Grapevine Police Department played a crucial role in a multi-agency operation that dismantled a criminal network responsible for nearly $3 million in ATM thefts across North Texas.
The investigation, dubbed "Operation Big Gulp," began in November 2024 with an ATM theft in Bedford.
The Mid-Cities Drug Task Force, including Grapevine, Bedford, Euless, and Hurst Police, launched an inquiry and identified a pattern of similar crimes.
Grapevine officers played a pivotal role when they interrupted an attempted theft at a 7-Eleven on November 24, 2024, scaring off the suspects.
Over three months, detectives from multiple agencies worked together, gathering intelligence, analyzing surveillance, and executing search warrants.
In January 2025, a coordinated arrest operation by the Mid-Cities Drug Task Force, Texas DPS Special Agents, and Dallas and Fort Worth Police led to the initial arrests of Savoy Brown, Christopher Edmondson, and Damon Hudson. They face charges of Aggravated Robbery and Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity (Attempted Theft of an ATM < $300K).
By the end of February 2025, the investigation had identified and arrested 14 suspects, including one arrested in Grapevine. Charges include Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity and various outstanding warrants.
The Grapevine Police Department praised the collaboration and dedication of all agencies involved in the investigation, which led to the dismantling of a major criminal operation.
