Vidal Gonzalez-Marquez, 52, was sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to Aggravated Assault causing Serious Bodily Injury on February 24, 2025.
On April 21, 2021, Gonzalez-Marquez attacked a woman giving him a ride, stabbing her in the chest and face with a pickaxe. The attack resulted in facial lacerations, broken teeth, and a collapsed lung. Gonzalez-Marquez fled the scene but was later arrested by Fort Worth Police after locating him walking on Interstate-35.
Gonzalez-Marquez was classified as a habitual offender due to prior convictions. In 2002, he was required to register as a sex offender after being convicted of sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl. He also had a 1993 conviction for assault with a knife.
The case was prosecuted by Jess Gambrell.
