A coordinated law enforcement effort led to the arrest of a suspect on Tuesday morning after a residential burglary in Italy, Texas, triggered a vehicle pursuit that extended into Dallas County.
On April 8, 2025, at approximately 9:30 a.m., deputies from the Ellis County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a burglary in progress in the 500 block of Judys Lane. Upon arrival, the suspect fled the scene in a distinctive new model pink Ford Bronco, initiating a pursuit.
During the chase, deputies witnessed the suspect discarding stolen property from the residence out of the vehicle's window. The pursuit continued as the suspect crossed the county line into Dallas County.
The chase came to an end when the suspect abandoned the pink Bronco and fled on foot. Multiple law enforcement agencies, including Italy Police, Waxahachie Police, Texas Highway Patrol (DPS), Red Oak Police, DeSoto Police and their K9 Unit, Lancaster Police and their K9 Unit, Dallas Police and their K9 Unit, and Dallas Police Air 1, responded to the scene.
A coordinated perimeter was established, and K9 units and air support were deployed to locate the fleeing suspect. The individual was ultimately apprehended and taken into custody without further incident.
The suspect has been identified as Anthony Lee Turner, a resident of Little River Academy in Bell County, Texas. He was transported to the Wayne McCollum Detention Center (Ellis County Jail) and has been charged with Burglary of Habitation, Tampering or Fabricating Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair, Evading Arrest or Detention with a Vehicle, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Groups 2 and 3.
Ellis County Sheriff Brad Norman expressed his gratitude to the assisting agencies, stating, "Their coordination, resources, and professionalism were crucial in ensuring the safe and successful apprehension of the suspect."
