A man died early Tuesday morning, April 29, 2025, after a traffic stop at the intersection of C.F. Hawn Freeway and North Jim Miller Road.
According to a preliminary investigation, a Dallas police officer observed a vehicle at Lake June Road and Jim Miller Road and checked the license plate. The check revealed two outstanding felony warrants for the driver: one for aggravated sexual assault and another for burglary with intent.
The officer initiated a traffic stop. During the stop, the driver complained of chest pains, and the officer contacted Dallas Fire Rescue (DFR) at 1:48 a.m. DFR examined the driver and medically cleared him. Officers then transported him to the Southeast Patrol Station for an interview.
While being escorted into the interview room at the station, the driver stated he was feeling ill. DFR was immediately called and responded to the Southeast Patrol Station, where the man was pronounced deceased.
The Dallas Police Special Investigations Unit is currently investigating the incident under case numbers 059924-2025 and 059953-2025. The Dallas County District Attorney’s Office has been notified and will conduct its own investigation. The Office of Community Police Oversight has also been informed of the death. The identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of next of kin.
