A vigilant Lake Worth Police officer made a significant arrest on Thursday afternoon after observing a vehicle speeding excessively on Azle Avenue.
During a routine patrol on Thursday, May 15th, the officer clocked a vehicle traveling at over 100 mph and initiated a traffic stop. Upon approaching the driver, identified as 27-year-old Orlando Martinez, the officer noticed a firearm and a rolled-up $1 bill on the vehicle's center console.
A subsequent roadside investigation led to the discovery and seizure of cocaine and three loaded firearms within the vehicle. As a result, Orlando Martinez was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful carrying of a weapon.
The Lake Worth Police Department commented on the incident, stating, "This case, and so many others like it, involves individuals who are not from Lake Worth who choose to disrespect our community by behaving in an illegal and disruptive way. Our officers take tremendous pride in interdicting criminal activity and in doing so, hope to prevent tragedies, save lives, and preserve the peacefulness of our community."
