Man Sentenced to 18 Years for Knife Attack and Robbery at DART Station

Bryant Benard Chambers

A Dallas County jury has convicted 53-year-old Bryant Benard Chambers of Aggravated Robbery for a violent attack at the DART Pearl/Arts District Station and sentenced him to 18 years in prison.

On May 20, 2025, at approximately 6:45 p.m., Chambers attacked a man in broad daylight on the busy train platform, using a large “Rambo” style knife to hack at the victim’s hand multiple times before stealing his duffle bag. The victim’s bag contained personal belongings.

Chambers fled the scene but was apprehended four days later with the knife sheath still attached to his hip. During a police interview, he initially denied the robbery but later confessed after being shown surveillance footage, claiming the bag belonged to him.

Thanks to the victim’s cooperation, assistance from a Good Samaritan, Dallas Fire-Rescue, and the DART Police Department, prosecutors were able to disprove Chambers’ claim and secure a conviction.

The case was prosecuted by Lead Prosecutor Samantha Jackson and Second Chair Abby Parmelly. DA Investigator Aleciah Taylor and Paralegal Shannon Vanloggerenberg also assisted in the trial. The jury returned a guilty verdict on June 12, 2025, and sentenced Chambers to 18 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
