To reduce the risk of mosquito bites, residents are urged to:
-
Limit outdoor activity during evening and nighttime hours
-
Wear long sleeves and pants
-
Use EPA-approved mosquito repellents
To help prevent mosquito breeding, residents should eliminate standing water around their homes. Common sources include birdbaths, clogged gutters, plant trays, toys, tires, and pet dishes. Mosquitoes can grow from egg to adult in as little as seven days.
