Roadway detours are beginning at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) to complete a new bridge into Terminal B. The detours are part of a three-phase, 90-day project to transition access to Terminals A, B, and C to new right-hand exits from International Parkway. DFW is encouraging all travelers to add an extra 30-45 minutes to their typical travel time to navigate the changes.
Terminal B Access and Closures
Beginning this week, all traffic heading to Terminal B will enter via the southbound entrance from International Parkway. Travelers arriving from the north will take the existing left-hand exit but follow a slightly different path into the terminal. Those arriving from the south must pass all terminal entrances and use the U-turn before the North Exit Plaza to access the new southbound entrance.
In addition, a portion of the Southbound Service Road will be closed for approximately 52 hours, starting the night of Wednesday, August 6, for the demolition of part of the existing Terminal B flyover bridge. This closure does not affect access to the terminals from International Parkway.
Terminal A Exit Detour
For the duration of this 90-day phase, all customers exiting Terminal A will be directed to the North Exit to merge with northbound traffic on International Parkway. If a traveler needs to go southbound, they must use the U-turn before the North Exit Plaza to return to the southbound lanes of International Parkway.
Project Scope and Timing
The current work on Terminal B is the first of three phases, each expected to last 90 days. The next phases will complete new bridges into Terminals A and C. This project is designed to improve traffic flow and wayfinding. The timing of these closures was planned to coincide with a typical dip in passenger traffic following the summer travel season.
