An Irving man was arrested last week after police say he assaulted his pregnant sister during a domestic dispute in North Irving.
On Wednesday, September 10, officers responded to the 4500 block of W. Northgate Dr. on a “domestic in progress” call involving siblings. Inside the apartment, the victim told police she had been assaulted by her brother, 25-year-old Thril Leewonn Brooks Jr.
According to the report, the incident began when the woman tapped her brother on the shoulder to get his attention. Brooks allegedly took offense, leading to a verbal argument. In a fit of rage, police say Brooks grabbed his sister’s television, raised it over his head, and attempted to throw it at her and another sister.
Both women tried to stop him, grabbing his arms. During the struggle, the victim suffered minor lacerations to her fingernails. Brooks then threw the TV to the ground, breaking it.
When questioned by officers, Brooks admitted he intentionally broke the property in anger. He also acknowledged that he was aware his sister was pregnant during the altercation.
Brooks was arrested at the scene and booked into the Irving Jail at 4:57 p.m. on a charge of Assault on a Pregnant Person. He was transferred to the Dallas County Jail the following day and later released on bail.
