Lively Elementary School
Superintendent Magda A. Hernández said, “Wellness is one of our cornerstone initiatives in Irving ISD, and the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program is a perfect example of how we put that commitment into action. By providing students with access to fresh, nutritious foods during the school day, we are helping them build healthy habits that support both their academic success and their overall well‑being.”
The program serves fruits and vegetables outside of breakfast and lunch, with participating campuses offering snacks on Wednesdays and Fridays starting October 3. FFVP also integrates bite-sized nutrition lessons to encourage students to try new foods and set lifelong healthy habits.
Since its inception in 2008, the program has benefited from public and private partnerships, helping schools provide healthier snacks and nutrition education to students.
