The Fort Worth Police Department has released a video showing a powerful example of the challenges officers face while serving the community.
On Thursday morning, October 23, 2025, two Fort Worth police officers responded to a severe crash on I-30 between Eastchase Parkway and Cooks Lane. The collision caused the female driver and her infant daughter to be ejected from the vehicle. The infant was pinned beneath the overturned car and was unresponsive when officers arrived.
Sgt. R. Nichols (Badge #3590) and Officer E. Bounds (Badge #3521), with the help of witnesses, were able to lift the vehicle enough to free the child. Sgt. Nichols immediately began performing CPR, successfully reviving the infant and keeping her breathing until Fort Worth Fire Department personnel arrived.
Both the woman and infant were transported to the hospital and are now in stable condition, expected to make full recoveries.
The department praised Sgt. Nichols and Officer Bounds for their life-saving actions, as well as the citizens who stepped in to help during the chaotic scene.
“We are beyond proud of the bravery and quick response shown by our officers,” the department said. “Their actions, and the courage of those who stopped to assist, truly represent the best of Fort Worth.”
