Plano Police have charged 25-year-old Ricardo Gonzalez-Castanon in connection with a fatal crash that occurred on November 1, 2025. Gonzalez-Castanon faces a charge of Intoxication Manslaughter with a Vehicle and is currently being held at the Collin County Detention Center.
The crash happened around 9:30 p.m. in the area of 14th Street and Los Rios Boulevard. According to the preliminary investigation, Gonzalez-Castanon was driving a white Chevrolet Silverado southbound on La Paz Drive when he attempted to turn left onto eastbound 14th Street. Investigators say he accelerated during the turn, causing the truck to lose traction. In an effort to regain control, he overcorrected, and the vehicle spun before striking a wooden power pole on the passenger side.
The passenger, identified as 25-year-old Alex Rangle of Plano, was pronounced dead at the scene by Plano Fire-Rescue. Gonzalez-Castanon was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The Plano Police Traffic Unit continues to investigate the incident.
