DALLAS, TX - Dallas Police South Central CRT officers uncovered a large-scale cargo theft operation on November 1 after spotting a stolen trailer being hauled into a repair shop in the 5200 block of University Hills Boulevard.
Officers detained the semi-truck driver and two others after confirming the trailer had been reported stolen by Benbrook police. The Salvage Squad responded, interviewed everyone involved and determined that the shop’s owner and manager were also part of the scheme. In total, five people were arrested:
- Johnny Veail, 39 – Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle (State Jail Felony)
- Abdullah Majeed, 39 – Theft of Property ≥ $300,000 (First-Degree Felony)
- Mohammad Husainy, 37 – Theft of Property ≥ $300,000 (First-Degree Felony)
- Justin Kenney, 37 – Theft of Property ≥ $300,000 (First-Degree Felony) and a Benbrook warrant for Theft of Property > $30,000 < $150,000 (Third-Degree Felony)
- Anthony Walker, 54 – Theft of Property ≥ $300,000 (First-Degree Felony)
Investigators learned the repair shop had been used as a storage point for large amounts of stolen cargo. After securing a search warrant, the Salvage Squad recovered roughly $1 million in goods tied to at least ten cargo theft cases across the DFW region dating back to 2022.
Recovered property included:
- 600 aluminum rims
- A trailer, a motorcycle, an ATV and a car engine
- A refrigerator and multiple air conditioners
- Numerous cases of motor oil
- 795 tires
- $32,553 in cash
The investigation involved coordinated work from South Central CRT, the Salvage Squad and the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigation Division. Their efforts led to the recovery of stolen property and the takedown of a theft ring that had affected multiple North Texas communities.
