The investigation into a suspicious person call in the Goody Goody’s parking lot has now been reclassified as a death investigation following the passing of 22-year-old Cody Banks of Vona, Colorado.
Working alongside the DEA, Lake Dallas detectives learned that Banks and another individual had purchased and used narcotics in a different city before experiencing a medical emergency in Lake Dallas. As the case developed, investigators identified a suspect connected to the sale of the drugs.
On Tuesday, November 18, 2025, the DEA, Lake Dallas Police Department, and Dallas Police Department arrested a Dallas resident for his alleged role in distributing the narcotics. The suspect is now in federal custody and will be prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas on a charge of Conspiracy to Deliver a Schedule II Substance: Fentanyl.
The Lake Dallas Police Department expressed its appreciation for the assistance provided by the Drug Enforcement Administration, Hickory Creek Police Department, and the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
