PLANO, TX - The former president of the Allen Professional Firefighters Association has been sentenced to federal prison for wire fraud, according to an announcement from U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.
Jeremy Painkin, 42, of Frisco, pleaded guilty to wire fraud and was sentenced on December 3, 2025, to 13 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Richard Schell. Painkin was also ordered to pay more than $108,000 in restitution.
According to information presented in court, Painkin served as president of the Allen Professional Firefighters Association from 2017 until his resignation in October 2023, which followed an internal review of the organization’s finances. Investigators found that he made numerous personal purchases using the association’s funds. These purchases included high-end clothing, travel, entertainment tickets, fuel, food, and items from online retailers.
Court documents state that once the unauthorized spending was discovered, Painkin attempted to conceal the transactions by making false statements to members of the organization.
The case was investigated by the FBI and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney William R. Tatum.
