SWAT Clears Southeast Arlington Home After Reported Hostage Call, Family Found Safe

Arlington police safely resolved a tense situation Friday night after receiving a 911 call suggesting multiple family members were being held inside a home by a possibly armed suspect.

Officers were dispatched around 9:00 p.m. to a residence in the 900 block of Salida Drive in southeast Arlington after a caller from another city reported concern for relatives inside the home who were allegedly not being allowed to leave. The suspect was known to the family and was believed to be armed.

Police established a perimeter around the house and made contact with one of the family members inside, who told officers they had locked themselves in a room to stay away from the suspect. Based on the information available at the time, officers treated the call as a potential hostage situation.

The Arlington Police Department SWAT team was called in and later made entry into the home. Two adults and three children were safely removed. No injuries were reported.

A search of the residence did not locate the suspect. Investigators later learned that the suspect had not displayed a firearm and had not threatened the family. According to police, the situation stemmed from an argument that escalated emotionally but did not involve direct threats.

No charges have been filed at this time. The investigation remains ongoing as officers continue to gather information surrounding the incident.
