Wrong-Way Driver Flees Police, Passenger Killed in Fort Worth Crash

FORT WORTH, TX - A police pursuit in Fort Worth’s Stockyards early Saturday morning ended in a deadly crash that left one person dead and another critically injured.

According to Fort Worth police, officers observed a vehicle driving the wrong way on Exchange Avenue around 2:40 a.m. on January 3, 2026. Due to the traffic violation and safety concerns, officers attempted to stop the vehicle, but the occupants refused to comply, made a U-turn, and fled the area.

Details of the suspect vehicle were broadcast to officers nearby. Minutes later, a patrol officer in a marked unit located the vehicle and attempted another traffic stop. The driver again fled, lost control of the vehicle, and crashed into a utility pole near the 1500 block of East 4th Street, close to downtown Fort Worth.

The passenger was removed from the vehicle but was unresponsive. Officers immediately rendered medical aid, but the passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

The incident remains under investigation.
