Grand Prairie and Irving Officers Involved in Multi-Agency Pursuit That Ended in Carrollton Officer-Involved Shooting

CARROLLTON, Texas - An early morning police pursuit that began in Grand Prairie and traveled through Irving ended in Carrollton with an officer-involved shooting and major traffic disruptions.

According to authorities, officers from Carrollton, Irving, and Grand Prairie were involved in the chase. The pursuit concluded shortly after 3:30 a.m. Tuesday in the eastbound lanes of the President George Bush Turnpike near Old Denton Road.

Officials said spike strips were deployed during the pursuit, and a PIT maneuver was executed before the suspect vehicle crashed and overturned.

Following the crash, an officer-involved shooting occurred. Police believe a man and a woman were inside the vehicle at the time of the incident. The male suspect was wounded, though his current condition has not been released. No information has been provided regarding injuries to the female occupant.

All eastbound lanes of the turnpike, along with the service road from Old Denton Road to Josey Lane, were shut down through the morning commute as multiple agencies processed the scene.

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Texas Rangers Division was requested by the Grand Prairie Police Department to investigate an Officer-Involved Shooting.  No officers were injured and all suspects were apprehended.

The investigation is ongoing.  DPS said that due to the involvement of multiple local law enforcement agencies and the need for a thorough review of all evidence, the process requires an extended period of coordination before it is completed.
