PANTEGO, Texas — Town officials have revoked the Certificate of Occupancy for a local business following a gunfire incident during a private event on Friday, February 13, 2026.
In a joint statement, Mayor Russ Brewster and Police Chief Robert D. Rife acknowledged the concern the incident has caused in the community and said the town moved quickly to take action. As a result of the revocation, the business is no longer operating within Pantego.
The Pantego Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division continues to investigate the incident and is asking anyone with information that could help identify suspects or witnesses to come forward. Officials emphasized that public safety remains their top priority.
While details are limited due to the active investigation, town leaders say updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
Residents are invited to attend the next Town Council meeting on Monday, February 23, 2026, at 6 p.m. Although the incident is not listed on the agenda and cannot be formally discussed, public comments will still be accepted.
Town officials encouraged residents with specific concerns to contact the Mayor’s Office, City Manager’s Office, or the Chief of Police directly.
