ARLINGTON, Texas — A 6-year-old girl died after a crash early Wednesday on Interstate 20 in Arlington, police said.
Officers responded around 12:29 a.m. on March 25, 2026, to the westbound lanes of I-20 near the U.S. 287 interchange for a collision involving a 2014 Nissan Sentra and a dump truck.
Investigators believe the driver of the Sentra became distracted by something happening in the back seat, causing them to take their eyes off the road before striking the rear of the dump truck.
The driver and two children in the back seat were transported to area hospitals. The 6-year-old girl later died from her injuries, according to police.
Authorities said the child was in a car seat at the time of the crash but may not have been properly secured or may have unbuckled the seatbelt.
The driver of the Sentra and the other child suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The dump truck driver was not injured.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the child.
