WATAUGA, Texas — A late-night house fire in Watauga left one person dead and another hospitalized, according to fire officials.
The Watauga Fire Department responded around 11:05 p.m. on Friday, April 3rd, to a residential fire in the 6100 block of Mackneal Trail. Additional units from Haltom City and North Richland Hills assisted in the response.
Fire crews arrived within minutes and reported heavy fire conditions inside the home. Crews were also advised that a possible occupant remained inside.
Firefighters entered the residence around 11:12 p.m., working to suppress the fire while conducting a search. At approximately 11:14 p.m., crews located one victim in a bedroom, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
A second victim was found alive, treated on scene, and transported by Watauga medics to Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth.
Officials also confirmed that two dogs died in the fire.
The Tarrant County Fire Marshal’s Office, which is leading the investigation, is working alongside the Watauga Fire Department Fire Marshal’s Office to determine the cause of the fire.
No additional information has been released at this time.
