Third and fourth grade students from Gilbert Elementary School attended the Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs exhibition April 4 at the Dallas Museum of Art.
Led by Gilbert third and fourth grade teachers James Tiggeman and Yolanda Flores, students studied the exhibit in conjunction with related art, writing, social studies, and summative technology/video projects. Teachers said the visit allowed students to learn and study about King Tut and take advantage of the exhibit’s limited stay in the United States.
Tiggeman sought funding for the visit from Target Corporation, and was awarded an $800 grant from the Target Field Trip Grants program. The funding defrayed the cost of busing, admission tickets, and T-shirts students designed for the visit.
