JOHNSON COUNTY, Texas — A Johnson County jury has convicted Bonnie Allen Thomas of assaulting a peace officer and sentenced her to 12 years in prison, according to the Johnson County District Attorney's Office.
Prosecutors said Thomas physically assaulted a Johnson County deputy while deputies attempted to arrest her inside the 18th District Court on November 17, 2025.
According to the district attorney’s office, Thomas applied pressure to the neck of a female deputy during the confrontation while yelling that she had the right to “fight to the death.” Officials said multiple officers were required to restrain Thomas and restore order in the courtroom.
Authorities said Thomas had previously made threats to kill litigants involved in a civil case and threatened harm against several Johnson County judges. Prosecutors also noted that Thomas had previously been convicted of bringing a loaded firearm into the courthouse after making those threats.
The district attorney’s office stated that previous administrations, including the former district attorney and county attorney, declined to pursue charges related to the assault on the deputy. The current administration later filed and pursued 2 counts of Assault on a Peace Officer, ultimately securing the conviction.
Furthermore, in a seperate case she was charged by the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office on Januay 7, 2026, for Elderly Fraud.
“In Johnson County, we unequivocally condemn any form of assault against the dedicated men and women who wear the badge and protect our safety,” District Attorney Timothy M. Good said in a statement.
