Fort Worth Man Sentenced to 50 Years for Killing Arlington Mother of Four

LeDarren Tilley (defendant) and Taterea McGuire (victim)

FORT WORTH, Texas - The Tarrant County District Attorney's Office announced that a Fort Worth man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison after pleading guilty to murdering his girlfriend, a 32-year-old Arlington mother of four.

Authorities said 38-year-old LaDarren Tilley admitted to killing Taterea Shonte’ McGuire, who was reported missing in December 2024.

According to investigators, McGuire’s children told police she was last seen on Dec. 2, 2024, leaving home with Tilley. She never returned.

A few days later, a landscaping worker discovered McGuire’s body in an overgrown field in east Fort Worth. Investigators said she had been shot multiple times.

The Fort Worth Police Department led the homicide investigation.

Authorities arrested Tilley four days after McGuire’s body was discovered and charged him with murder.

According to family members, McGuire’s relationship with Tilley had been marked by ongoing domestic violence. Her children told investigators that Tilley rarely went anywhere without carrying a firearm.

During sentencing proceedings, McGuire’s mother addressed the court, saying, “My daughter's life was stolen from her. My daughter's life mattered. She was loved. And she deserved to be here.”

McGuire was originally from Jonesboro and moved to Texas in 2002.

Family members said she graduated from Juan Seguin High School (Arlington ISD) in 2011 and later completed college coursework while earning her certified nursing assistant license.

She was also a member of Word of Truth Church.

The case was prosecuted by Allenna Bangs with victim services support provided by Carma Anderson.
