Suspended Nurse Sentenced to 15 Years for Medicaid Fraud in Tarrant County

Trisha Evans-Davis

FORT WORTH, Texas - A Tarrant County jury has convicted a suspended nurse of health care fraud after prosecutors said she submitted fraudulent Medicaid claims connected to group homes and care facilities she operated.

The Tarrant County District Attorney's Office announced that 71-year-old Trisha Evans-Davis was found guilty May 21 and sentenced to 15 years in prison along with a $10,000 fine.

According to investigators, Evans-Davis operated group homes and day habilitation facilities despite having a suspended nursing license.

Prosecutors said that during 2021 and 2022, Evans-Davis submitted more than 80 fraudulent claims to the Texas Medicaid system, resulting in more than $8,600 in improper payments.

Investigators discovered missing records and found claims for services that were allegedly provided while some patients were actually hospitalized with injuries reportedly sustained at facilities connected to Evans-Davis.

Authorities credited the Grand Prairie Police Department and the Texas Attorney General Medicaid Fraud Control Unit for their work investigating the case.
