DALLAS, Texas - A Dallas County jury convicted a man of aggravated robbery after prosecutors said he robbed a victim at gunpoint before leading police on a dangerous high-speed chase through Dallas.
According to court records, 31-year-old Marsean Dewayne Stephenson was found guilty April 2, 2026, and sentenced by Judge Raquel Rocky Jones to 15 years in prison.
Prosecutors said the robbery occurred Dec. 5, 2024, outside an apartment complex in Dallas.
Investigators with the Dallas Police Department said Stephenson exited a black Ford Focus armed with an AR-style rifle and approached the victim.
According to authorities, Stephenson pointed the firearm at the victim and demanded money, repeatedly saying “dinero, dinero,” before reaching into the victim’s pocket and stealing his wallet.
Police said Stephenson then returned to the vehicle and fled the scene.
The following day, Dallas police officers located Stephenson about one mile from the robbery location.
Authorities said when officers attempted a traffic stop, Stephenson fled, leading police on a chase from Interstate 35 and Royal Lane to the Trinity Groves area.
During the pursuit, investigators said Stephenson threw an AR-style firearm from the vehicle window while driving at speeds exceeding 120 miles per hour.
Police said Stephenson eventually abandoned the vehicle and attempted to escape on foot before officers captured him.
The case was prosecuted by Jonathan Grant and Paige Lynne. Investigator Christopher Frosch and paralegal Sherrie Lacy also assisted in the prosecution.
