Arlington Woman Arrested in Crash That Killed 6-Year-Old Girl, Faces Intoxication Manslaughter Charge

Courtney Getz

ARLINGTON, Texas — Arlington police have arrested a 21-year-old woman in connection with a March crash that claimed the life of a 6-year-old girl on Interstate 20.

Following a months-long investigation, Arlington Police Department accident investigators obtained warrants charging Courtney Getz with Intoxication Manslaughter and Possession of a Controlled Substance PG2 Less Than One Gram.

On June 16, 2026, members of the U.S. Marshals North Texas Fugitive Task Force located Getz in Arlington and took her into custody without incident. She was booked into the Arlington City Jail before being transferred to the Tarrant County Jail.

The charges stem from a crash that occurred on March 25, 2026, in the westbound lanes of Interstate 20 near the U.S. 287 interchange.

Investigators determined Getz was driving a Nissan Sentra when it collided with the rear of a dump truck.

Getz and two children riding in the vehicle were transported to area hospitals. One of the children, 6-year-old Aviah Getz, later died from injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the dump truck was not injured.

During the investigation, officers recovered THC vape pens from inside the Nissan. Investigators also received information indicating Getz may have consumed THC on the night of the crash.

Police obtained a warrant for a blood sample, which was submitted for laboratory testing.

According to Arlington police, toxicology results confirmed the presence of THC in Getz's blood. Toxicologists with the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office advised investigators that the results were consistent with THC use within four to six hours of the blood draw and indicated she may have been impaired at the time of the collision.

The case remains under review as it proceeds through the criminal justice system.
