Houston Man Sentenced to 15 Years After Celina Drug Investigation

CELINA, Texas — A Houston man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison following a narcotics investigation that began after a major traffic crash in Celina, according to the Celina Police Department.

The investigation started on May 29, 2025, when Celina police officers responded to a multi-vehicle crash in the 100 block of South Preston Road.

During the investigation, officers determined that 32-year-old Dalton Campbell had been driving recklessly, contributing to the collision.

Police said officers observed Campbell discarding items into a nearby grassy area before law enforcement arrived at the scene. A search of the area led to the discovery of multiple illegal narcotics, including methamphetamine, MDMA, prescription narcotics, and various items of drug paraphernalia.

Campbell was arrested and charged with Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 2, a first-degree felony; Tampering with Physical Evidence, a third-degree felony; Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 1, a state jail felony; Possession of a Controlled Substance, Penalty Group 3, a Class A misdemeanor; and Possession of a Dangerous Drug, a Class A misdemeanor.

Following the arrest, detectives obtained search warrants for Campbell's cellular devices.

According to investigators, evidence recovered from the devices indicated Campbell was actively involved in distributing illegal narcotics within the community.

The case was presented to the Collin County District Attorney's Office for prosecution.

Authorities announced that Campbell entered a guilty plea last week and was sentenced to 15 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

Celina Police Chief John Cullison praised the work of the officers and detectives involved in the case.

"This sentence reflects the dedication of our officers and detectives who worked diligently to investigate this case and remove dangerous narcotics from our community," Cullison said. "The Celina Police Department remains committed to holding offenders accountable and working alongside our law enforcement and prosecutorial partners to keep our community safe."

The Celina Police Department also thanked the Collin County District Attorney's Office for its role in prosecuting the case.
