FORT WORTH, Texas - A man was shot and killed Sunday night in northwest Fort Worth, and police say the suspected gunman barricaded himself inside a nearby residence following the shooting.
According to the Fort Worth Police Department, Northwest Division officers responded at approximately 8:40 p.m. on Aug. 9 to a reported shooting in the 5600 block of Talons Crest Circle.
When officers arrived, they found an adult male inside a vehicle suffering from at least one gunshot wound.
First responders immediately began life-saving measures, but the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Suspect Believed to Be Barricaded Nearby
Investigators said the suspect is believed to be known to the victim as well as to other individuals who were at the scene when the shooting occurred.
At the time of the department's update, the suspect was believed to be barricaded inside a nearby residence while officers worked to take the individual into custody.
No additional information about the suspect has been released.
Homicide Detectives Lead Investigation
The Fort Worth Police Department's Homicide Unit has assumed the investigation, which remains ongoing.
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the official cause and manner of death and will release the victim's identity after notification of next of kin.
