Irving Police Search for Suspect in Attempted Kidnapping at Shady Grove Trail Park

IRVING, Texas - Irving Police are asking for the public's help identifying a man accused of attempting to kidnap a woman Monday evening at Shady Grove Trail Park in South Irving.

The incident occurred around 8:20 p.m. September 14th at the park in the 700 block of W. Vilbig Street.

According to police, the man attempted to kidnap a woman near the northeast portion of the park's walking trail. Authorities have not released additional details about how the attempted kidnapping unfolded or whether the woman was injured.

The suspect fled the area and was later captured on surveillance video running along Meyers Road toward W. Shady Grove Road.

The footage shows him running beside the Taco Bell at 8:25 pm, crossing the street and continuing through the parking lot of the Dallas College Irving Center campus.   It is unclear if he then runs towards S. MacArthur Blvd to his left or towards Oakland Dr to his right.  

Investigators described the suspect as a white man in his mid-to-late 20s, approximately 5 feet, 5 inches tall, with a medium-to-heavy build, medium-length black wavy hair and a short, unkempt beard.
