Cistercian Student Earns Nearly $46,000 With Summer Landscaping Business, Finishes 5th in National Competition
IRVING, Texas - A Cistercian Preparatory School student turned his summer landscaping business into nearly $46,000 in revenue, earning him a spot among the nation's top student entrepreneurs.
Harrison Frazier Hart earned $45,797 during the summer through his landscaping business, Mulchachos, while competing in High School Hustle, a national nonprofit program that challenges high school students to operate real, revenue-generating businesses.
Hart finished fifth nationally and was the highest-ranking student from Texas among the competition's top 25 student entrepreneurs.
High School Hustle participants operated their businesses between June 1 and Aug. 1. According to the organization, revenue submitted for the competition is verified using payment records before being included in a student's total.
Hart traveled to Indianapolis for the national awards ceremony at Gainbridge Fieldhouse, home of the NBA's Indiana Pacers. Organizers distributed $150,000 in prize money during the event.
"Excited to share that I placed 5th nationally in the High School Hustle summer business competition!" Hart said in a statement.
Hart credited the competition with giving young entrepreneurs an incentive to start businesses while also connecting them with other high school students pursuing similar goals.
"High School Hustle has done an amazing job incentivizing entrepreneurship and encouraging friendly competition," he said. "Not only do they provide prizes, but also the unique opportunity to connect with other ambitious high school entrepreneurs from across the country."
Hart also credited the employees who worked alongside him at Mulchachos for helping the landscaping business reach its summer sales total.
"I'd like to thank everyone who has worked for Mulchachos," Hart said. "I could not have done any of it without a fantastic crew, and I'm incredibly grateful for their hard work."
Hart said he is already looking ahead to another season for the business.
"Looking forward to the year to come and seeing where we can take Mulchachos!" he said.
