Irving's MacArthur High School theater department won the Region 1-5A UIL One-Act Play competition April 25 at Texas Tech University , and will advance to its first state-level theater competition since the UIL program began.
Performing The Last Days of Judas Iscariot, MacArthur students Kenneth Black and Josh Moore captured All-Star cast awards, and Donald Bennet and Jason Douglass were awarded honorable mention All-Star cast. Keller Central High School will join MacArthur in representing Region 1-5A.
MacArthur will perform first at state UIL competition, taking the stage at 4 p.m. May 16 at Hogg Memorial Auditorium at University of Texas at Austin .
MacArthur earned top scores at zone, district, area and regional to advance to the 83rd Annual UIL State One-Act Play Contest. Of more than 350 5A high schools that began the competition, MacArthur is one of only eight that will advance to the state championship.
