The annual fifth grade versus faculty softball game will open festivities from 8-9:30 a.m. The annual softball game is a 30-year tradition at Lee, and former principal Cecil Carson will throw out the first pitch. From 9:30-11 a.m., brunch will be served and a reunion of former school staff and a slide presentation depicting the school’s history will be hosted. Former staff members are invited to visit classrooms and read to children from 11 a.m.-2 p.m., and former students are invited to a reception in the library from 3-4 p.m.
Lee was opened in 1959 and was named for T.J. Lee, a long-time resident of Irving and an American Airlines pilot who served for five years as an Irving ISD School Board Trustee.
Did you know? T.J. Lee operated a small airport in the area where the elementary school is now located.
