Ranchview Band Receives Highest Honor at UIL Competition

On Saturday, October 17, 2009, The Ranchview Band competed in the UIL Region 24 Marching Competition at Standridge Stadium.  Texas bands compete in two large group UIL events during each school year.  In the fall, bands compete in UIL Region Marching Competition.  In the spring, bands compete in UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Competition.

The bands are not competing against each other; they are competing against a set standard.  They are judged by highly qualified adjudicators from around the state and nation.  The marching band is judged on Tone (individual &group), Musicianship (individual & group), Marching Execution (individual), March Drill & Integration (group).  Bands earn a rating based on the above criteria.  The UIL ratings are as follows:

V (poor)	no TEA equivalent

The Ranchview Band students earned 3 First Division, Superior, Ratings from the judges.  This is the highest award that can be earned by a high school band program in Texas.  Please congratulate all of the band students on their tremendous success.
