DFW Airport Welcomes Inaugural Service to Melbourne Australia

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW) is pleased to announce Qantas Airways will begin non-stop service from Melbourne, Australia to DFW. The three-times-a-week Boeing 787-900 service starts on Dec. 3, 2022. This is DFW’s longest route served at 8,992 miles and a flight time of 17 and a half hours and is Qantas’ second destination to Australia from DFW, complementing its daily service to Sydney.

“The addition of service to Melbourne is a significant milestone for DFW Airport. It is reflective of not only the strength of our network as one of the most connected Airports in the world, but it also shows the vitality of the Dallas Fort Worth region economy as a place to do business and visit,” said Sean Donohue, DFW Chief Executive Officer. “As the second busiest Airport in the world, it makes sense that Qantas looked to expand service here to take advantage of all that we offer and to give Qantas customers another option to the U.S.”

Melbourne is Australia’s 2nd most visited city and an important part of the Qantas Airways network. The city offers a diverse set of tourist attractions, from shopping at the Queen Victoria Market to visiting the Royal Botanic Gardens or watching a cricket or Australian Football match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, there is something for everyone. Customers from Melbourne can take advantage of DFW Airport’s domestic network, the largest among U.S. airports with 194 domestic destinations and over 260 destinations worldwide they can connect to.
