Good Elementary School will begin celebrating its fiftieth anniversary with a reception at 10:30 a.m. April 10 in the school garden.
The reception will kick-off the school’s spring carnival scheduled for 11 a.m.-3 p.m. School administrators are inviting former Good students, teachers, staff and the community to the reception.
Named for John R. Good, the school opened in 1960. Good was an employee of Dallas Power & Light Company who died at an early age. His wife’s second husband gave Irving ISD a reduced price for the land if they would name the school after Good. He was also a relative of Jacob Good, who settled in the Irving area during the 1870’s.
Good Elementary School is located at 1200 E. Union Bower.
