Dallas Firefighters Called to Fight Another Fire at the Old Valley View Mall

On Friday, April 7th, at 11:10 p.m., Dallas Fire-Rescue units were dispatched to a structure fire at the site of the old Valley View Mall, located at 13121 Preston Road, in North Dallas.

The incident was originally reported by Dallas Police Officers in the area that noticed fire coming from the building. When firefighters arrived at the location, they reported out with heavy smoke and fire conditions inside the structure. While suppression efforts were immediately initiated, they were defensive from the onset and included the dispatching of additional engine companies, and the use of ground and aerial water streams, to access the interior flames as well as multiple spot fires on the roof. Efforts continued into the morning; and though the fire was declared extinguished at 1:56 a.m., overhaul companies monitored the location until 3:30 a.m. Thankfully, there were no injuries reported in association with this incident.

Dallas Police Officers detained multiple juveniles, seen leaving the location, in a nearby parking lot. However, according to interviews conducted by Fire Investigators, it was determined that they arrived after the fire had already began.

The cause of the fire is currently listed as undetermined, but DFR reserves the right to change or supplement this finding based on new or additional findings.
