On April 7, 2023, at about 4:30 am, Dallas Police responded to a suspicious person call in the 4900 block of Gaston Avenue. When officers arrived, they found the victim, 47-year-old Thomas Williams lying near the pedestrian entrance gate, beaten and unconscious.
The preliminary investigation determined after interviewing witnesses that the victim had been knocking on doors before the officers arrived. Detectives learned that 38-year-old Jarvis Urssing and the victim got into an argument about banging on the doors, then got into a fight. The victim was taken to a local hospital by Dallas Fire Rescue with serious injuries. Urssing was transported to Lew Sterrett and charged with aggravated assault, serious bodily injury.
On April 10, 2023, the victim died from his injuries. The arrestee’s charges were changed from aggravated assault to murder.
